Really good food but uneven service. Home football weekends it's a circus. I only go on week nights. Sit downstairs to have fun playing trivia game.

Simply put, it's basically another Applebee's type of operation, but with a sports theme. They got sports trivia, and a wall of TV's with a speaker at your table so you can pick which station to listen to.

I've had mixed feelings about Damon's. While most of the visits I have made there over the past 3 months have been good, the remainder have been mediocre. 3 items that stand out from these visits: The Good: - Chop Salad: fresh, crisp and massive. Loved it every time and consistently prepared. - Service: Excellent service. Friendly, Fast, and the waiting staff checks back often. - Availability: Even on PSU Football game days we were able to get a seat with minimal wait times. The Bad: - Steak Tips: not really steak tips, just steak cut into tip shapes. disappointing, edible, but not worth the cost. The Ugly: - Spinach and artichoke dip. Don't do it, just don't. texture and taste is like it came out of a plastic container and was heated in a microwave.

I got an order of wings as an appetizer and the hot sausage sandwich with fries. Opted for buffalo on the wings, very good. The fries were nice and golden and the sandwich was tasty too. Great meal for a cold night.
(4)Rachel M.
I ordered food and it took almost two hours to get to me, was completely cold, and onion rings were like a soggy gross soup

Service was excellent, lunch Club Sandwich was great. My second time here, both great experiences. This is my go to spot on way to airport.

I came here to watch football, but they're really weird about putting things on their tv's. They lied and said that they didn't get certain channels, and they chose to have non-sports instead of my game. If you coming here to watch a game, don't bother.

When I was a college student at Penn State years ago, I considered Damon's to be an upscale place. Ha! My tastes have changed a bit... The restaurant was dirty. The food tasted so-so. The wait staff was also so-so. At least prices were not too high.

Let's start with the good points: service was very good. We got there about 25 min before happy hour ended & the waitress put in our order but then spaced out the beers throughout the dinner so we weren't drinking warm beer by the time the food came out. The pretzel dippers were good too - 6 pieces with dipping sauces; warm, slightly salted and nicely golden brown. Then there was the main course. I ordered the salmon with tropical salsa & sautéed veggies. The salmon came out charbroiled & cooked beyond any trace of pink (ie: way too overdone). While the salsa was nice, I couldn't get over the "chicken-esque" style of the salmon. That was a bummer & at around $15, I expected better. Boyfriend got the all-you-can eat boneless wings & fries. The "all you can eat" part only applies to wings though, not fries (but that's not spelled out anywhere on the menu or hanging advertisements...the waitress informed us when we tried to order more fries). I didn't try the fries but they came out looking like fried chicken nugget balls! (are you getting the constant reference to chicken in this post? LOL). He seemed to like them; the fries were nicely fried and seasoned. Decent selection of beer, interesting artwork on the walls, and TVs galore to watch the games or space out on a bad date. ;) (But I don't think I'll be back anytime soon).

Came here to catch some of the PSU game. I liked the set up with the large screens that projected two different games at once. The seating was appropriate so that all the seats had a decent view of the screens. The food was on par with any other bar food. Had the Club sandwich with fries. Salty as expected. Our server was very attentive. Only downside was the fly buzzing around our table and food.

Hubby and I have been to Damon's so many times over the years, I could never try to count them all. We also have used delivery quite a bit over the years. About a year or so ago, Damon's merged with a restaurant called Prospector's. Prospector's now only has a presence for delivery, take out and catering. However, since the merge, quality of the food, whether dine-in, take out or delivery, has declined. On our last dine-in visit, I order the Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. This was a dish I'd had before so I expected Fettucini Alfredo with grilled chicken breast on top. And that's what it appeared to be. Until I went to take a bite of the chicken. It literally flaked and fell apart. I smelled the chicken to make sure it was good and it turned out to be CANNED chicken that was made into a flattened piece of chicken, grilled and placed on top of the fettucini. I called our server over and requested to just have a new bowl of fettucini with Alfredo sauce. Our server insisted it was a grilled chicken breast. I told him I KNEW what canned chicken smelled like. I also told him that while this would not affect how we tipped him, that he should check with the cooks because if this was a new way of serving "grilled chicken breast," that the server would be the one to suffer. Other than that, all of our in-dining experiences have been good. We've only experienced one time where three female wait staff in a fairly empty restaurant stood around yammering in a corner while we waited forever for food. I finally had to stand up and make it obvious we were still waiting. Upon speaking to the manager, all three of them were moving and we had our server changed from the one of the immature chatterers to a male server from upstairs. Delivery used to be excellent. Now I have to include things like telling them to fill up the onion soup containers. For $4.99 per order of onion soup, the containers were coming half filled including the cheese on top. Unacceptable. They have frequently left out salad dressings, dips and other accouterments that are supposed to be included with our entrees. Now I always have to tell them to fill the containers, don't forget this, don't forget that. Don't send me a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich that isn't fully cooked. I really shouldn't have to tell this to them every single time. If you have issues while dining in the restaurant, asking for the manager will get the issue fixed. If there are issues with your delivery order, best to report those to the manager as soon as you have the order. For instance, tonight my onion soup container was NOT filled up, my onion straws were cold and so was the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. What is the purpose of ordering delivered food if it comes cold and you have to use baking pans and your oven to heat it all up? Defeats the purpose of NOT having to COOK.

Even when road-weary, exhausted, painfully hungry, and ready to settle for average fare, Damon's missed the mark. The service was the high point. Attentive and friendly staff made the dining experience tolerable. Other than that, everything was slightly off. The mushroom and swiss burger was seasoned strangely, the beer (one of my standard go-to brews) tasted funky, and the fries were undercooked. The "regulars" put off a strange vibe, almost as if I were crashing a private party. I really wanted to like the place, but really didn't.

If you're looking to eat a lot on the cheap, look no further. This place has some serious deals. 1. Monday, Thursday - All You Can Eat Boneless wings, served with fries $8.49. The wings are also pretty light (as much as wings can be), in that the breading is very thin. 2. Half-priced appetizers and drafts from 5-7 (weekdays). e.g. 12 spicy BBQ wings for $4. 1/3 rack for $4 (not on the menu, ask for it). $4 quessadilla's. In terms of food, it's pretty good. The ribs are better on days they are not on special (they are tender then), but the sauce is very good. The spicy BBQ have a nice kick, but nothing crazy. The Thai wings are good, but I wouldn't order a dozen. Is it the best BBQ in the area? Probably not. If you can time your visits, it's be pretty good and pretty cheap :) Note: these deals are in the bar area ONLY. Make sure you get seated there...

Where do I start??? I'm a college kid, not a ton of spare cash, but I'm also a Red Sox fan, and tonight is game 1 of the World Series. I'm also suffering from a sore throat and cough and didn't feel like going out, so I decided to order delivery. I logged on to the local orderup.com to make a decision on food. After logging on and wavering on what I wanted I decided to check out Damon's. I decided on ribs, loaded fries, baked beans, and a slice of cheesecake... My order came to 43.00 without a tip for the driver. I almost decided against ordering, but figured I'd splurge a bit for the game. This was at 7:30, 45 minutes before first pitch. After the fifth inning I decided to call. This is roughly 9:30, two hours later. I was put on hold for seven minutes, and eventually a manager came on and said the printer for online orders had malfunctioned and that the delivery driver had just headed my way. I homestly didn't even want the food at this point, but whatever, I was hungry. The driver arrived less than five minutes later. He gave me my bag and left quickly. I opened up the bag and started opening packages. There was a salad I hadn't ordered, soggy fries that looked like they'd sat for an hour or more, and room temperature ribs. No cheesecake. The fries were not edible because of the cheese and sauce on them having soaked through. The ribs were not warm, but had a decent sauce. Unfortunately they were extremely fatty and stringy. The baked rams were ok, solid 6/10 beans. Solid .5/10 everything else. I'm looking into ways to get my money back. Almost $50 for garbage.

I found myself mumbling over and over again all weekend, "never again, never again."

This review is specifically on their take-out. I travel for business, so I appreciate good take-out service. And I've never had better take-out than from here. My food was ready exactly when they said it would be, packaged neatly, and they included utensils and plenty of hand wipes. And the food itself was excellent, too--great baby back ribs, garden salad, and mashed potatoes. I will definitely be back.

Today was my first time at Damon's Grill and i must say that i was thoroughly pleased. The decor of course is dominated by Penn State football and other athletic teams.. Overall experience, very pleasant given the circumstances of being part of a party of 50 and being served the way we did. The manager was very helpful with a large group discount among other accommodations. Thank you.. Ill be back when im in the area once again!

A sports bar just outside of the Penn State strip of shops and bars, this little place is kinda cool. Decorated with sports stuff, it differs from other sports bars in that you can tell there's a couple of decades of history at this location...the place seems to have been here for awhile. It took a long time to get our food and the food was just awful. Don't ever get their "special." My assumption is that "special" means "we have a lot of something and it is about to expire." It was so bad that I could not eat it. The rice that came with it obviously had been sitting around all day; it was crusty. I left the restaurant hungry.

I had a tasty juicy piece of meat. It comes with a salad and a starch option. The prices are a bit elevated but it worths it! Nice environment! They take reservations. We came a weekend of football game and it was hectic. We had to wait a while because we didnt make any reservation. In the first level/floor theres a nice bar. The restaurant looks very clean. I would go back again for a nice piece of meat.
(3)Ryan D.
Walked in and walked out. Smelled like something awful. It was a dungeon of a bar and my inner-self told me to get out of there. I gave a one star for appearance and atmosphere, I was not adventurous enough to order food.
